Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions:Thank you for supporting Tabitha Jewellery! We are a proudly 100% Kiwi-owned and operated business, right here in Sydenham, Christchurch.
Because we ship your jewellery locally, we offer much faster delivery times than other websites ending in .co.nz that actually manufacture and ship from overseas.
🛠️ Ordering & ProductionQ: How long will it take to make my personalised jewellery?A: Standard Time: Approximately 10 working days from the date of payment.
Peak Seasons: During busy gift-giving seasons (such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, or Christmas), please allow 10–15 working days.
Note: We pride ourselves on being the fastest in New Zealand - overseas competitors often take 4 to 5 weeks! Please review our Terms and Conditions for more details.
Q: Why does production take 10 working days?A: Because your jewellery is made completely from scratch! Unlike mass-produced items, we do not use pre-made blanks. Every single piece is meticulously crafted, engraved, and finished in the exact order it is received.
Q: I missed the comment box at checkout! How do I submit my custom engraving?A: Don't worry! If you missed the customization box during checkout, you can easily send your details to us:
Email: sales@tabithajewellery.co.nz
Form: Fill out our online contact form.
Please double-check all spelling before submitting, as we cannot change it once production begins.
Q: Can I add extra engraving or extra parts after receiving my pendant?A: No. Unfortunately, we do not offer alteration or addition services once a piece has been completed and shipped.
Q: Can I pay extra to rush my order?A: No. Every order is incredibly special to us, so we process them strictly in the order they are received. No queue-jumping allowed!
Q: Will my item arrive in time for Christmas?A: Only if ordered before our Christmas cutoff date. Please check the deadline displayed at the top of our homepage. We cannot guarantee Christmas delivery for any orders placed after that date due to high seasonal volume.
🚚 Shipping & DeliveryQ: Do you ship internationally?A: No. We ship strictly within New Zealand.
Note: We do accept orders placed from overseas, provided the delivery address is located within New Zealand.

✨ Materials & Jewellery CareQ: Will Sterling Silver tarnish or change colour?A: Yes, eventually. Sterling silver naturally reacts to its environment. Tarnishing depends on individual skin acidity, humidity, how often it’s worn, and exposure to water (swimming/showering) or chemicals (lotions and perfumes).
How to clean it: You can buy a silver cleaning cloth or liquid from your local supermarket.
DIY Method: Check out the video at the bottom of this page to learn how to clean tarnish instantly using just tin foil and baking soda!
Q: Can I wear gold-plated jewellery every day?A: Gold plating will naturally wear off over time. Even thick gold plating will eventually fade due to friction against the skin and contact with sweat, body sprays, or perfumes.
Care Tip: To prolong its life, avoid wearing your plated jewellery while working out, swimming, or sleeping, and avoid spraying perfume directly onto it. Q: What is the difference between 9ct, 14ct, 18ct, and 22ct Gold?A: Carats measure the percentage of pure gold blended into the metal alloy. Pure gold is very soft, so other metals are mixed in to add strength and durability.
Gold Carat Pure Gold Percentage Characteristics9ct 38% Pure Gold Highly durable, more affordable.14ct 58% Pure Gold Highly Recommended. Excellent strength and rich colour. It looks and acts like 18ct gold but costs significantly less, making the benefits far outweigh the price difference.18ct 75% Pure Gold Rich, deep golden hue; softer and more premium.22ct 92% Pure Gold Very soft, intensely yellow, traditional look. 📏 Sizing & ChainsQ: How do I choose the right chain length?A: Please note that the chain lengths listed below do not include the width of the custom nameplate itself.
14 inch (35 cm): Best for children aged 5–13 years.
16 inch (40 cm): Fits teens and average-sized adults; sits just below the collarbone.
18 inch (45 cm): Mid-chest length; ideal for fuller necks or a slightly lower hang.
20 inch (50 cm) & 22 inch (55 cm): Best for larger frames or a long, dramatic look (sits just above the breast).
